Schluter-Ditra

An uncoupling and waterproofing membrane designed for tile installations.

Schluter-Ditra membrain

Ditra membrane is crafted from polyethylene, featuring a unique design that resembles a flattened egg crate. Its fleece backing enables direct installation over the subfloor using a bed of thin-set mortar.

After installing the Ditra membrane, KERDI-BAND is applied to all seams. This flexible, fabric-like material is essential for Ditra membrane applications. It is affixed with thin-set mortar over all seams, butt joints, and floor-to-wall connections, ensuring a watertight installation.

Once in place, Ditra functions as an uncoupling membrane, allowing tiles to be laid without directly bonding to the subfloor. This is particularly beneficial  on concrete floors, where imperfections or movement could otherwise damage the tile surface.

Ditra comes in two thickness options:

  • The thinner profile of Ditra adds minimal thickness and weight to the substrate.
  • Ditra XL provides additional thickness for applications requiring tile-to-wood   subfloor transitions. These different profiles eliminate the need for bulky transition strips, resulting in a sleek and seamless finish.

Beyond its ease of installation and waterproofing capabilities, Ditra’s lightweight construction makes it a favorite among installers, eliminating the hassle of heavy cement backer boards.
